Hi, I’m Jean.
Yogi & Mixed Mover.
„Energy flows where your attention goes.“
Beginnings on the mat
I can still vividly remember the first time I stood on a yoga mat in 2017, right after surfing in Morocco. Since then, countless mats and hours have passed, leading me to realize that my journey had actually begun much earlier.
Early love for movement
Already as a child, I loved moving and exploring different forms of physical activity. I started with gymnastics before the first grade, then moved on to judo, Kenpo karate, dance, breakdancing, back to apparatus gymnastics, and capoeira. And now, yoga. In hindsight, it’s fascinating to see the common threads among these disciplines, both in terms of anatomical movements and the underlying abstract philosophies. If I had to describe myself as a practitioner, I’d call myself a „yogi and mixed mover.“
Discovering mediation
During my youth, I also discovered meditation. I often found myself falling into deep sessions, where I felt a profound connection to a higher awareness. This early experience with meditation has deeply enriched my practice and perspective.
Journey to teaching
After several years of being devoted to yoga and practicing it in India in 2022, I decided to start yoga teacher training in 2023. My initial goal was to deepen my own practice and overall understanding, and then see where it led. It didn’t take long for me to discover a passion for teaching, as it allowed me to infuse my knowledge and enthusiasm into creative and playful class concepts.
A holistic approach
Yoga, for me, is much more than a physical practice. It is a holistic approach that includes yoga philosophy, Pranayama (breath control), and meditation. I believe that yoga strives to empower the yogi, promoting not only physical well-being but also mental and spiritual growth. This comprehensive approach is essential to truly benefit from yoga’s transformative power.
Embracing mixed movement
With my „mixed movement“ background, I enjoy styles like „Budokon Yoga“ and „Animal Flow.“ These practices incorporate mobility, bodyweight exercises, quadrupedal movements, and animal locomotion, offering creative options that align with the natural movements our bodies are designed for.
Passion for yoga
I mostly enjoy strong and flowy Vinyasa classes, such as Power Yoga. These dynamic sessions go beyond just physical asanas, integrating strength, flexibility, and stamina, while also emphasizing mindfulness and breath. These strong and flowing classes challenge physical limits and enhance overall vitality, making them a perfect complement to traditional yoga practices.
See you on the mat and see you soon,
Jean
